How BSE got started – History of BSE.

It is believed! The BSE started with a banyan tree in India’s financial capital Mumbai, where the Horniman Circle Garden is today! Some people used to gather and bargain shares on the bottom of that banyan tree! And seeing the number of people started increasing! So then they found a new place. Which later became famous as Dalal Street.

And in the same permanent place, BSE was established in 1874 by Premchand Roychand  with 300 people!

In the early times, BSE was named The Native share & stock broker association! And later it was changed to Bombay stock exchange! And today there is BSE Tower of Bombay Stock Exchange on Dalal Street.

In fact before 1992, that is, when the NSE was founded! At that time, it took at least 6 months to access the documents of all the shares which were bought! Because share documents were sent via post.

In 1992, the government set up an institution called SEBI, in which rules were made on the lines of the US stock markets. But the BSE investors did not like it. SEBI was brought mainly to improve the BSE. But which BSE rejected. But after that another Stock Exchange (NSE) was established.
